The group aims to provide low-level ‘step down’ support for young girls who have previously engaged with our programmes, or as a stepping stone towards accessing our services.
Our team of experienced art therapists and practitioners will ensure that In Touch serves as a valuable resource for promoting the safety and well-being of young girls in a supportive environment.
We understand the importance of building trust with the children we work with, especially as many of them may have experienced early childhood trauma. We strive to create a welcoming and safe environment where they can feel comfortable and supported at their own pace.
In addition, we recognise the crucial role that parents, particularly mum’s, play in the support of their children. We actively involve parents in their children’s time at EdShift, offering informal support, guidance, and signposting them to women support services when needed.
Our aim is to bridge the gap in our provision by offering ‘In Touch’ sessions for young people, aged 8-18 years old, who will benefit from regular check-ins and a safe space to express themselves. We are also keen to encourage mum’s to stay whilst the girls group is running, providing them with a platform to offer feedback, connect with mums who have had similar experiences, and find out about support services in the area.
The group will run every second Thursday of the month.
Girls will participate in creative activities while discussing their concerns, engage in meaningful conversations, and build positive connections and relationships.
We believe that this coordinated approach will provide light-touch support for women and girls in a familiar and understanding environment
