These NHS Health Checks are being provided by Pennine GP Alliance, an organisation that manages and mobilises additional health services to support GP Practices and their patients in Calderdale. Health checks are designed to help identify the risk of serious conditions such as heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. Early detections of these conditions can significantly improve outcomes, allowing for timely interventions and lifestyle changes.

Employees aged over 18 who haven’t already been diagnosed with these conditions are eligible to participate.

So, what’s involved in the NHS Workplace Health Check?

  • 20 Minute appointments
  • Blood pressure check
  • Cholesterol test
  • Diabetes screening: check your blood sugar levels to detect early diabetes
  • General well-being check
  • Guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle

Importantly, the information obtained from the health check will be transferred onto employees NHS medical records, with all results given to the person at the end of their appointment – known as point of care testing.

By bringing this service directly to the workplace, Pennine GP Alliance are making it more accessible for employees who may not have time to visit their GP. Employers can contribute to a healthier, happier work-force resulting in increased productivity, reduced absenteeism, and a positive workplace culture.
