Our mission is to increase everyone’s knowledge and understanding of mitochondrial disease as well as the far-reaching potential of mitochondrial research
About the Organisation
My Mito Mission is a small charity based in Elland, dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and funding mitochondrial research. Our work helps those affected by mitochondrial disease while also highlighting its links to over 200 other conditions. Volunteers play a crucial role in helping us reach more people and make a bigger impact.
If you’d like to get more involved, there are plenty of other ways to help.
We’re looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to assist with our tombola stall at the new Brighouse Market when it opens in September 2025 (hopefully). As a Tombola Assistant, you’ll engage with customers, explain how the tombola works, handle money (including giving change), and share a little bit about our charity and its mission. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, support a good cause, and be part of a lively market atmosphere. No prior experience is needed - just a willingness to help and a friendly attitude!

We’re happy to cover reasonable expenses (with receipts) to help with travel and other costs. Volunteers will also receive a reference for their time with us if requested, and gain valuable experience working with a charity. If you choose to get involved in other areas, we can tailor your volunteering experience to help develop skills that could support your future career goals.
When do we need you?
Additional Requirements
September 2025
The venue is fully accessible, and we welcome volunteers aged 16 and above. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and will not be left unsupervised during their shift. We aim to have a My Mito Mission volunteer on every shift to provide support. We are happy to make any necessary adjustments to ensure a positive experience for all volunteers. While we cannot guarantee the temperature inside the units, we believe a heater will be provided to ensure comfort.
