About the Organisation
Part of Halifax Opportunities Trust, The Outback Community Kitchen and Garden runs on organic and sustainable principles and the thriving garden is packed full of herbs, fruit and veg.
The site is located next door to the Jubilee Family Hub and is open to the public.
There are lots of interesting areas to explore and learn more about the natural environment, whilst the straw bale kitchen provides a perfect space for the local community to gather and cook food.
We offer volunteering opportunities for adults of all ages and abilities, it’s a chance to get involved in this fantastic community project as well as meet other local people.
The garden is packed full of fruit and veg, we have 2 polytunnels as well as a large variety of trees, plants and flowers and there are a range of different gardening activities available.
We have 2 beehives on site which provide opportunities to get involved and learn more about beekeeping.
Volunteers are supported and led by experienced members of staff.
