Open to professionals from all sectors: schools and education, healthcare, youth workers, third sector, housing, council, and so on. This will also be a chance to work with professionals from different settings to enhance learning.
Course content:
- Improved knowledge of LGBTQ+ words and meanings
- Improved understanding of identity, gender, sexuality and intersectionality
- Exploring where our ideas around sexuality and gender come from
- Understanding the Equality Act and LGBTQ+ people’s rights
- Unlearning and challenging prejudices
- Practicing being active bystanders against hate
- Creating safer and more inclusive spaces and practice
This will be a welcoming, engaging and friendly environment to learn about LGBTQ+ awareness, and there will be plenty of opportunities to participate in discussion and ask questions.
The Brunswick Centre is a charity with 30 years experience supporting the communities of Calderdale and Kirklees. We run youth groups, one-to-one and family support for LGBTQ+ young people, as well as HIV prevention and support. Our trainer has 7 years experience delivering LGBTQ+ awareness work across West Yorkshire and the UK.
