LGBTQ+ Allies Training for Multi-Agency Professionals

A half-day in person training event to give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to support LGBTQ+ people in your role, and make your workplace a more inclusive space.

Open to professionals from all sectors: schools and education, healthcare, youth workers, third sector, housing, council, and so on. This will also be a chance to work with professionals from different settings to enhance learning.

Course content:

  • Improved knowledge of LGBTQ+ words and meanings
  • Improved understanding of identity, gender, sexuality and intersectionality
  • Exploring where our ideas around sexuality and gender come from
  • Understanding the Equality Act and LGBTQ+ people’s rights
  • Unlearning and challenging prejudices
  • Practicing being active bystanders against hate
  • Creating safer and more inclusive spaces and practice

This will be a welcoming, engaging and friendly environment to learn about LGBTQ+ awareness, and there will be plenty of opportunities to participate in discussion and ask questions.

The Brunswick Centre is a charity with 30 years experience supporting the communities of Calderdale and Kirklees. We run youth groups, one-to-one and family support for LGBTQ+ young people, as well as HIV prevention and support.
