Freda Wade Centre, Beverly Place, Halifax, HX3 6LP.
We will give you the opportunity to be part of a great team.
We will give you an opportunity to support and understand carers and make a real difference to both carers and those living with dementia and other conditions.
About the Organisation
The charity was started in 1991 and has adapted and changed over the years to meet the needs of the people in our community. We now have sessions on Wednesdays and Sundays at Boothtown and Thursdays in central Halifax, and fundraise to keep these sessions going
These sessions are open to anyone in need in our community, carers and the person they care for, people who are isolated or lonely, people with disabilities or learning difficulties and people currently struggling with the cost of living issues we face.
A cooked 2 course lunch is provided, with refreshments throughout the sessions. We have entertainers come in, we have themed sessions and fancy dress! Quizzes, bingo and raffle are a must! We have wellbeing sessions such as massages, aromatherapy and more, we also have craft and art sessions, music sessions and talks from other organisations in our community.
Volunteer activities include: Planning events and activities, setting up the room before people arrive, welcoming visitors, serving food and drink, engaging in conversation, socialising and helping members with a variety of activities.
What are we looking for?
What will you get from us?
Our team is a great group of volunteers who go above and beyond to help those who need it and support those who attend our sessions, as well as helping with fundraising efforts. We are always looking for people who are compassionate, understanding and willing to engage with people
We provide quality training and support and we recognise that the sessions are an important source of support for our volunteers too.
