Skills Connect: Volunteer Pathway to Care

You’re invited to attend a free two day skills and career development programme (available to West Yorkshire residents aged 19 or over).

Over the two days you will learn about a variety of careers available in the health and
social care sector, whilst learning employability skills and exploring your own individual
transferable skills.

You will meet like-minded people, gain access to guest speakers and
receive coaching support to help you choose the right career path for you.

Along with guest speakers each weeks, signposting you to volunteering an
employment opportunities and one to one support in-between sessions, during the course you will
learn:

  • Careers available in the health and social care sector.
  • Benefits of volunteering and volunteering progression to help find employment. Your unique values and how they align with the values of the health and social care sector.
  • Your transferable experience, knowledge, skills and strengths.
  • Your success measures for choosing the right career for you. Your skills gaps in relation to jobs you are interested in.
  • CV writing.
  • How to complete an NHS application.
  • How to prepare for a job interview.
  • How to set objectives to enable you to achieve your goals.
  • Techniques for building resilience and maintaining a positive attitude despite setbacks.

training.

Kirklees and Calderdale residents aged 19 or over). Travel costs covered and lunch and supermarket
vouchers provided.


Over the two days you will learn about a variety of careers available in the health and social care
sector, whilst learning employability skills and exploring your own individual transferable skills.
You will meet like-minded people, gain access to employers and receive coaching support to help you
choose the right career for you.
