Building Bridges Food Hub has been set up by a group of like-minded friends in Brighouse who want to make a difference to our community. We have seen the invaluable work that local food banks do for the homeless and vulnerable in West Yorkshire and we support this work while recognising that not all those in need are out of work and homeless.
Friday is the day we prepare members’ orders into the shopping baskets ready for collections on Saturdays. You’d therefore help with printing orders, preparing baskets according to orders, stock checking, receiving stock and restacking the shelves, carrying baskets down to the lobby and arranging them ready for collection and lots more.
Saturday is the day members collect their shopping. You’d therefore help with welcoming members to the foodhub, carrying packed freezer bags downstairs, handing over member shopping etc.
What are we looking for?
What will you get from us?
We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing volunteers. You can help in many ways, from picking for shopping, stock taking and helping with collecting shopping. It's your willingness to help that makes the difference. Our work requires people who are reasonably fit and can use stairs, as there isn't an accessible lift, We're looking for people who are non- judgemental and who are willing to help.
We take pride in being a team which has a strong focus on supporting each other and we look forward to welcoming you into the Building Bridges family.
