Asquith Court, Sandhall Green,Halifax, West Yorkshire, HX2 0DU
We want to make it possible for people to have a place they’re proud to call home.
About the Organisation
We own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire, but that’s not all we do. We’re a landlord who cares and we’re all about making a positive difference in people’s lives so they can thrive.
We’re proud of our communities and we want our customers to feel proud of the community they live in too.
Coffee mornings provide our customers a way to come together over a brew and a chat. There is no structure to a coffee morning other than to keep the hot drinks flowing, the biscuits ready and be prepared for a natter! Asquith Court is one of our retirement housing schemes, so the coffee morning will be aimed at people who are over the age of 55 and live independently.
We are looking for volunteers who can welcome people, get them settled in and help make the all important brews! (Tea is just as welcome as coffee!) Coffee morning volunteers will help people feel comfortable and may sit and chat to customers or run small activities if there is a need, such as a quiz or bingo. You will help set up the session by getting the cups ready and the kettle boiled. Then at the end of the session you will ensure everything is washed, clean and tidy.
What are we looking for?
What will you get from us?
We would like someone that is passionate, friendly and willing to help out. You just need to be able to talk to others and be a friendly face for those attending. If you can make a good brew, then that’s always a bonus!
This role will really help to improve your confidence and you get to socialise with others. Volunteering is great for your own mental health and wellbeing. You will gain an understanding of how to run and plan community activities. The role can be completed around school pick up times if that's a help and is a great way to give something back to the community. We will also cover your travel expenses so you are not out of pocket when volunteering.
You will be given standard Yorkshire Housing volunteer training, which will include safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety and boundaries. You will be given a full site induction from our Activity Coordinator, Anna, and an induction from our Volunteering Development Officer, Rachel.
When do we need you?
Additional Requirements
We would like at least one volunteer to help, but things are always better when they are shared, so we would welcome if you would like to help with a friend.
If you would like to find out more about volunteering with us, drop us a message to Rachel Neale - volunteering@yorkshirehousing.co.uk
Due to the nature of the role, as you will be supporting potentially vulnerable members of the community, you must be over the age of 18
